ASSIGNMENT FOR 29^th   MARCH , 2010

1.      Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary General , to attend a seminar at 09:15 AM on FUTURE OF COMMONWEALTH GAMES at India Habitat Center.

2.      Signing ceremony for Exchange of Notes for JICA ODA Loan FY 2009 Package with Government of Japan will be held at 10.30 a.m. at  Conference Room No. 41, North Block.

3.      FICCI is organising a discussion on “Section 3(d) of the Patents Act, 1970”. Mr. P H Kurian, Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks and Mr. Arun Jha, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Minsitry of Chemicals and Fertilizers will address the session at 11:00 AM at FICCI, Tansen Marg.

4.      CII is organizing an Interactive Session with John F Manley, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and currently President & CEO of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE), at 11:00 AM at Inspire Hall, Hotel Le Meridien, Janpath.

5.      Sonia Gandhi , Congress President ,  to inaugurate National Convention of All India Congress Seva Dal at 12.00 Noon at Mavlankar Hall , Rafi Marg .

6.      Jérôme Bonnafont, Ambassador of France and Jean Leviol, Director of the Invest in France Agency to interact with media to announce the launch of IFA’s New Communications Plan at 12 :00  pm at the French Ambassador’s Residence ,   Embassy of France in India - 2/50E, Shantipath, Chanakyapuri .

7.      TVS Motor Company organizes a Press Conference to announce the launch of India’s first CLUTCH LESS motorcycle TVS JIVE on at 12.00 Noon (Followed by Lunch) at Ball Room, The Lalit Barakhamba Avenue   Connaught Place.

8.      The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Ambika Soni will present the Bharatendu Harishchandra Awards to the winners at 3.00 p.m. at  PIB Conference Hall 1st Floor, ‘A’ Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

9.      Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary General , to meet SM Krishna , Minister of State for External Affairs , at 4:00 PM at  South Block .

10.  Ashok Singhal , VHP leader , to address media and reveals plans about the VHP meeting at Haridwar on April 6 & 7 at 4:30 PM at 57, North Avenue.

11.  Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary General , to meet Minister of Finance , Pranab Mukherjee , at 5:15 PM at North Block.

12.  Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary General , to meet Dr. Manmohan Singh , Prime Minister , at 6:00 PM at 7, RCR.

13.  Inauguration of DIMENSIONS – exhibitions of art and paintings from 6.30 pm onwards at Lalit Kala Academy at Mandi House.

ON WATCH - RADAR & FORTHCOMING EVENTS

1. 1996 Delhi blast: Court verdict likely on Mar 30 . The blast killed 13 people. The court will pronounce its verdict against 10 alleged Kashmiri militants, including a woman.

2. One common accreditation pass for cameraman and reporter can be obtained online from Organising Committee of Commonwealth Games. Last date is March 31, 2010.

3. Lok Sabha to resume its sitting on 15^th April , 2010.

4. Manmohan Singh will visit Washington in April to attend the Global Nuclear Security Summit to be hosted by the White House on April 12 and 13.

5. All Matathipathis (heads of mutts) and sadhus of South India would convene at Namakkal in Salem on April 18 to discuss the status of religious conversions.

6. Pranab Mukherjee's first visit as finance minister to the USA will be on April 24-25 to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group .

7. Lt General Vijay Kumar Singh  will be the next Indian Army chief. He will take over from the incumbent army chief General Deepak Kapoor on March 31.
