ASSIGNMENT FOR 5th APRIL , 2010


1.      Minister for External Affairs , SM Krishna , leaves for China at 9:00 AM from Palam Technical.

2.      Delhi  Women Rugby teams gear up for action-packed National Women Rugby Sevens  in the Capital City from 10:00 AM at Kirorimal College Ground, North campus.

3.      SPACE in collaboration with Russian Center of Science and Culture organizes 'THE FIRST INDIAN IN SPACE'  Celebrating the Anniversary of Rakesh Sharma's Space flight April 3rd - 11th, 1984 from 10:30 am onwards at Seminar Hall, 2nd Floor, Russian Center of Science and Culture, 24, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi.  Rakesh Sharma will himself phone in to interact with students!

4.      The XXV Accountant’s General Conference 2010 will be inaugurated  by Speaker, Lok Sabha Meira Kumar at 11.30 a.m. at Auditorium, C&AG Building (New), 9, Deen Dayal Upadhya Marg, Opp. Mata Sundri College, New Delhi.

5.      Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will speak on ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BEYOND CLASS AND CASTE at Vigyan Bhavan at 5:00 PM on the occasion of Babu Jagjivan Ram birth anniversary.

6.      Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi & Bowling Federation of India (BFI) will be holding the test event in lawn bowls from April 6 to 10 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Complex. The BFI will be organizing a soft opening ceremony at 5 p.m. where the media will be introduced to the participating teams—numbering eight, including the hosts.The participating teams include India, England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Northern Ireland and Malaysia.

7.      SAGE PUBLICATIONS  organizes a release and discussion on the book “VULNERABLE INDIA: A GEOGRAPHICAL STUDY OF DISASTERS” by Anu Kapur at Amaltas (The Theatre), India Habitat Centre at 7:00 pm.

8.      Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra organizes  a dance theatre presentation by Anita Ratnam entitled, ‘MA3KA’ -  the feminine triad, exploring the matrix of myth and life (with Television actor Revathy Sankkaran as Storyteller) at 7.15pm at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi.


ON WATCH - RADAR & FORTHCOMING EVENTS

  1. The Left Front will hold a 'Jail Bharo' programme on April 8 throughout the country, except in West Bengal, to protest against the rise in prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities.

  1. All Petrol Pumps will remain closed on April 09, 2010 to register their protest against VAT in New Delhi.

  1. Lok Sabha to resume its sitting on 15th April , 2010.

  1. Manmohan Singh will visit Washington in April to attend the Global Nuclear Security Summit to be hosted by the White House on April 12 and 13.

  1. All Matathipathis (heads of mutts) and sadhus of South India would convene at Namakkal in Salem on April 18 to discuss the status of religious conversions.

  1. Pranab Mukherjee's first visit as finance minister to the USA will be on April 24-25 to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group .

  1. The special court  will pronounce its verdict in Kasab Case on May 3.
