ASSIGNMENT , 5th JULY , 2010

  
1.      BHARAT BANDH by BJP against rising price of essential commodities. Road blockade at various places to take place.

2.      Planning Commission is organizing a Conference on PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP IN STATE HIGHWAYS at Hotel Taj Mahal, Mansingh Road, New Delhi at 9:30 AM.  Kamal Nath, Minister Road Transport and Highways and Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission will address the Conference.

3.      The National Commission for Women is organizing a National Consultation for State Women Commissions Chairperson & Member Secretary at 10.00 AM  at Vigyan Bhawan, Hall No. 5 (SF), New Delhi. At  1.30 p.m. there will be a press conference by Dr. Girija Vyas, Chairperson, National Commission for Women.

4.      Meera Kumar , Speaker, Lok Sabha will inaugurate the National Seminar of Speakers of State Assemblies on ‘LEGISLATURE-AUDIT INTERFACE’ at 10.30  AM at Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe, Sansad Marg.

5.      FICCI in partnership with the Rajasthan State Agricultural Marketing Board, Government of Rajasthan is organising an interactive session with Industry on “NEW POLICY FOR PROMOTION OF AGRO-PROCESSING & AGRI-BUSINESS 2010 OF RAJASTHAN” at 11:30 AM at   FICCI, New Delhi.

6.      Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Delhi State, will be holding a PROTEST MARCH  TO Parliament House at 12..00 noon  from its office Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Road (Backside) against  against the rising prices of all commodities

7.      Delhi Technological University (DTU) and Society for Technology & National Development (STAND) are jointly organizing a Seminar on 'INDIA - A KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY', at India Habitat Centre at 3:00 PM to be inaugurated by Chancellor of DTU, Tejendra Khanna. Other eminent speakers are : Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, former Director General, CSIR , Dr. Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister, Govt. of India on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations and many others.

8.      Centre for Social Research rekeases the findings of the Study GENDER DIMENSIONS OF INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION FROM INDIA AND BANGLADESH: IMPACT ON THE FAMILIES LEFT BEHIND ( 2008 -2009) from  3:30 pm onwards at Indian Women’s Press Corps, 5, Windsor Place, New Delhi.

9.      Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, to deliver the 3rd  Annual NCM Lecture on ‘SUSTAINED DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM WILL BRING PROSPERITY TO ALL’ at  Speaker Hall, Constitution Club, Rafi Marg, at 4.00 P. M.

10.  There will be a film screening of "Bhopal: Beyond Genocide" followed by a discussion at India International Centre , Lodhi Estate at 6:30pm.

2.     On the 62nd Birth day of veteran journalist Late Shri Udayan Sharma,   a seminar has been organized on “Lobbying, Paid News and Contemporary journalism’, on coming Sunday, 11 July 2010 at Speaker Hall, Constitution Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi, at 3 p.m. Union New & renewable Energy Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, will  be the Chief Guest of the seminar.


  1. S M Krishna will visit Islamabad on July 15 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureishi.

  1. Women’s hockey World Cup 2010 to be held in Rosario, Argentina, from Aug 29 to Sep 11.

  1. The Congress Yatra, to commemorate the 125th year of Congress' foundation, will culminate on November 10 with a rally of party President Sonia Gandhi at Allahabad.
