Mr Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commisssion and Mr Anil Swarup, Jt. Secy., Ministry of Labour & Employmrnt will address at 1:00 PM.

  1. The Indian contingent that participated in the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore will meet the press at 11.30 a.m. at the Olympic Bhavan, B-29 Qutab Institutional Area, over lunch. Mr Suresh Kalmadi, MP and president IOA along with Secretary-General Randhir Singh will also be present. The Indians won eight medals, including six silver and two bronze medals in the YOG.

ON WATCH - RADAR & FORTHCOMING EVENTS

1.                  Women’s hockey World Cup 2010 to be held in Rosario, Argentina, from Aug 29 to Sep 11.
2.                  Lok Sabha will sit on 30th and 31st Aug ( without question Hour ) in order to provide sufficient time for completion of essential items of Govt Business.

3.                  In New Delhi, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in collaboration with IIC & INTACH will  celebrate Chopin: Notes & Colours, on the 4th of September, 2010 at IIC Annexe from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chopin Notes & Colours with children is a musical party for the young with lots of colours quiz and prizes.

4.                  After failing to elect a new prime minister despite five rounds of vote spread over a month, Nepal's parliament will now hold an unprecedented sixth round of election on Sep 5.

5.                  The Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti (ABGASS) would launch a fresh agitation in Rajasthan from August 29 if its demand of five per cent reservation to gujjars was not granted.

6.                  The Congress Yatra, to commemorate the 125th year of Congress' foundation, will culminate on November 10 with a rally of party President Sonia Gandhi at Allahabad.
