NEWS ASSIGNMENT

ASSIGNMENT FOR 15th JANUARY , 2010

1. Minister of External Affairs S M Krishna will leave for Nepal at 9.00 am from Palam Technical Area.

2. US envoy on Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrook is coming to India today. Time not yet confirmed.

3. The three Service Chiefs will pay homage at Amar Jawan Jyoti on the occasion of Army Day 2010 at 09. 00 am at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate .

4. Gen Deepak Kapoor, Chief of Army Staff, will review the parade and also present gallantry awards at 09.10 am at Parade Ground,Delhi Cantt

5. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is organizing a one-day Indo-Iceland Workshop on Renewable Energy. Dr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Preneet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs, Dr. R. K. Pachauri, DG, TERI will address the inaugural session of the Workshop at 9.30 AM at Mirza Ghalib Hall, Scope Complex, New Delhi.

6. Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment and Forests(Independent charge) will inaugurate National Conference, 2010 of Committee for the Pupose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals(CPCSEA) at 10.00 A M at Stein Auditorium,India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road.

7. Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee will hold a pre-budget meeting with economists at 11.30 a.m at Room No. 72, North Block, New Delhi.

8. Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ambika Soni to release the Annual Book “India 2010” and “Bharat 2010.” At 11.30. A.M at PIB Conference Hall, 1st Floor, ‘A’ Wing, Shastri Bhawan.

9. A new lab study from Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has found deadly toxins in toys. There are no regulations to control or monitor the use of these toxins, which puts children in grave peril. What’s more, on January 23, government curbs on import of toys will end. Unregulated, markets will be awash with more products of dubious quality.CSE organizes a media interaction to highlight the issue at CSE office, Core 6 A, Fourth Floor, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, at 12.00 noon.

10. Minister of State (IC), Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Prithviraj Chavan is inaugurating ‘the new High Performance Computing System (HPCS)’ to be followed by 135th Foundation Day celebrations of India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 2.00 P.M. at IMD Department, Mausam Bhawan, Lodhi Road, N. 13. Press briefing with the Australian Architect of Chadda Siembieda Australia. They will be showcasing their interior design of upcoming Westin Hotel in Gurgaon and also other project in India at 4.00 pm at Australian High Commission.

14. K.N.Govindacharya, expelled BJP leader , will release a pre -draft of the Nationalist Vision Document at Constitution Club, Delhi from 4.00 pm onwards.

16. S.Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Urban Development will inaugurate first “Indo French Seminar on Cooperation between States, Regions and Local Authorities” at 4.00 P.M followed by joint Press Conference by the Urban Development Minister and Mayor of Paris at 5.15 P.M. at Hall No.4, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi

17. Dr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of Iceland , will leave for Bangalore at 5.00 pm.
