ASSIGNMENT FOR 30th   MARCH , 2010

1.      Cabinet Secretary, K.M. Chandrasekhar to inaugurate a two-day SAARC Workshop on Government Performance Management at 8.30 AM at Vice Regal Hall, Claridges Hotel, New Delhi

2.      A Delegation from United States led by Senator Christopher Bond will call on MoS Coal,  Sriprakash Jaiswal to discuss issue related with the Coal at 10.00 A.M. at R.No.753, ‘A’ Wing (Minister’s Chamber), Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

3.      1996 Delhi blast: Court verdict likely on Mar 30 . The blast killed 13 people. The court will pronounce its verdict against 10 alleged Kashmiri militants, including a woman.

4.      CII is organising a select ‘CEOs Roundtable on Broadcast with Ambika Soni, Minister of Information & Broadcasting at 10:30 AM  at Desire Hall, Hotel Le Meridien, Janpath, New Delhi. The roundtable will attempt to address the following issues of the Broadcasting sector: Management and Development of Broadcasting Sector , Television Rating Points (TRPs) and its social impact on TV Content .

5.      CII Northern Regional is organizing its Annual Meeting & Conference “Tomorrow’s North: Green & Educated North” at 10:35 AM at Hotel The Lalit, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi. Kapil Sibal, Minister for Human Resource Development, will address the Inaugural session at 1040 hrs.  Suresh Kalmadi, Member of Parliament & Organizing Chairman, Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, will address the Session on COMMONWEALTH GAMES – THE EXCITEMENT & OPPORTUNITIES at 02: 15 PM.

6.      Chairman COSC and Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor to hand over The Baton to COSC (designate) and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal PV Naik at 11: 00 AM at Room No. 129D, South Block , New Delhi

7.      HTC, Qualcomm and Bharti Airtel organizes a Press Conference at The Ballroom, The Oberoi, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, New Delhi at 12:00 noon.  Speakers :· Mr. Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer, HTC Corporation · Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Qualcomm · Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, CEO— India and South Asia, Bharti Airtel · Mr. John Wang, Chief Marketing Officer, HTC  Corporation.

8.      The Host City Contract for staging the 37th National Games in Chhattisgarh will be signed at 1:00 pm at Chhattisgarh Sadan, 8-12, Factory Road, Safdarjung, Near Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. The HCC will be signed by Suresh Kalmadi, M.P, President IOA and Dr.Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh, Government of Chhattisgarh.

9.      Home  Secretary, G.K. Pillai will brief the media  on Census Operation-2010 at 3.00 p.m. at Room No. 119, North Block

10.  National Skills Development Council (NSDC)  organizes  a PRESS CONFERENCE for the announcement of their Chief Executive Officer at 03:30 PM  at the Deck Suite,India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi.The Press Conference will be addressed by Mr. M.V. Subbiah, Chairman NSDC and the Incoming CEO.

ON WATCH - RADAR & FORTHCOMING EVENTS


  1. One common accreditation pass for cameraman and reporter can be obtained online from Organising Committee of Commonwealth Games. Last date is March 31, 2010.

  1. Lok Sabha to resume its sitting on 15th April , 2010.

  1. Manmohan Singh will visit Washington in April to attend the Global Nuclear Security Summit to be hosted by the White House on April 12 and 13.

  1. All Matathipathis (heads of mutts) and sadhus of South India would convene at Namakkal in Salem on April 18 to discuss the status of religious conversions.

  1. Pranab Mukherjee's first visit as finance minister to the USA will be on April 24-25 to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group .

  1. Lt General Vijay Kumar Singh  will be the next Indian Army chief. He will take over from the incumbent army chief General Deepak Kapoor on March 31.
