1. PRAVASI BHARTIYA DIVAS : PM will formally inaugurate the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas by lighting the lamp at 9.30 am at Vigyan Bhavan. Welcome Address by Dr A. Didar Singh ,Secretary ,Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and address by Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs , Shiela Dikshit and Chief Guest Lord Khalid Hameed CBE DL Hampstead . And then Inaugural Address will be made by Dr. Manmohan Singh ,Prime Minister of India

2. JASHN-E-PASHM - The latest shawl festival from Kalpana begins from today from 110.00 am to 7.00 pm at three venue 1. Kalpana Sarees ,F-5,Connaught Place ,Inner Circle ,New Delhi. 2. Kalpana Sarees, DLF Place, Vasant Kunj , New Delhi. 3. Kalpana Sarees ,52 The Great India Palace Mall, Sector 38A ,Noida . The festival aims at rejuvenate the ancient art of Shawl craftsmanship with the aesthetic blend of contemporary designs. The festival will continue till 13th January , 2010.

3. PRAVASI BHARTIYA DIVAS : Plenary Session-I at 1115-1300 at Vigyan Bhawan.

13. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for External Affairs ( Twitter Minister ) will give the ‘Annual Lecture’ of the Association of Indian Diplomats on “India’s Place in the World”: by Prof. Lord Bhikhu Parekh at 4.30 pm at ICWA, Sapru House, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

15. Virendra Gupta , Director General ICCR , interact with media on the occasion of the launch of the HORIZON SERIES. ghazals by Fareed Ahmad Khan,singer & composer and exhibition of mithila paintings by Bharti Dayal at 5.45 pm at ICCR’S Azad Bhawan.

16. Penguin Books India celebrate the publication of ARUNACHAL PRADESH :THE HIDDEN LAND by Mamang Dai at 6.00 p.m. at Arunachal Bhawan, Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri. As usual Dr. Shashi Tharoor will release the book.

17.
